In an effort to shed some light on this subject, we’re going to discuss the purpose of thesecordsand why there’s a growing popularity for4-prongcables. Up until the mid-1990s,3-prongoutlets were the standard used in American homes.

I don't really care if backfeeding the panel is "wrong". So is drinking crap beer and people still do that everyday too.

If there are only3wires, then you have 2 options: 1) Replace the wiring with 10-3w/ground cable, and install a4-prongoutlet. (recommended, but more expensive) 2) Replace thedryer cordwith a3-prongtype.
