Jan 11, 2016· Hammer mill is the most widely usedgrinding milland among the oldest. Hammer mills consist of a series of hammers (usually four or more) hinged on a central shaft and enclosed within a rigid metal case. It produces size reduction by impact. The materials to be milled are struck by these rectangular pieces of hardened steel (ganged hammer) which rotates at high speed inside the chamber.
Selection of the mill lining; for soft minerals usuallysteel liningsare used, sometimes with a high chromium content option, which reduces material discoloration. In some cases, a ceramic lining is used if the highest whiteness or brightness is needed or to eliminate iron contamination.
